I’ll BET you have to go into your TV’s Audio menu and turn OFF the speakers to activate the AUDIO OUTPUT line….

Then you have the option of making the audio output line run Full Blast (Fixed) or control it with your TV remote’s Volume control (Variable) , normally it’s “grayed out” until you turn off the speakers.
